Stress Management
Stress is another normal feeling or experience that can, if used as it was intended, keep us out of danger or help grow and shape our lives for the better. Stress is frequently defined as a physical reaction to life's pressures. However, stress has both emotional and mental dimensions. It manifests as ideas, feelings, and physical sensations. Another way to think about stress is as an internal and conditioned reaction to external stimuli.
STRENGTH IN CHOICE
What is stress?
You could be experiencing Stress if you’re going through a divorce, going through a breakup, being discriminated against, have a health concern, losing a job or starting a new job, experiencing a change in financial status, or many other experiences that are overwhelming you.
“Stress is a response to a threat in any given situation and is the body’s way of protecting you,” says Senior Clinical Psychologist and Head of Clinical Services at Black Dog Institute, Laura Kampel.
If we don’t learn to control stress, it can quickly get out of hand and cause a lot more challenges to the body and mind in a relatively short period of time. Stress not worked on can often lead to Anger issues due to a lack of control of the thoughts taking control of your mind.
Working together utilising a holistic approach, will work towards identifying life events that contribute to stress and assist you in changing, accepting, or adapting to those circumstances. You will learn to recognise, control and in time replace the negative thoughts and behaviour patterns that can lead to stress. We will develop your abilities to manage the symptoms and issues, as well as to recognise and minimise future stress.
“Feelings are much like the waves, we can’t stop them from coming, but we can choose which one’s to surf.”
