Hi, I’m James

I’m a counsellor and wellbeing practitioner with a strong focus on supporting students, staff and school communities.

Over the past several years, much of my work has centred around supporting young people, creating space for honest conversations, helping people navigate difficult moments, and working alongside school wellbeing teams to strengthen connection, belonging and emotional wellbeing.

My approach is calm, practical and person centred.

I don’t believe people always need someone to immediately fix things or give them all the answers.

Sometimes they simply need someone who will listen, understand and help them make sense of what they’re experiencing.

Alongside my work within schools, I continue to offer a limited number of online counselling and wellbeing sessions by arrangement.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief, people are more likely to move forward when they feel seen, valued, heard and supported.

Whether I’m supporting a young person, working alongside a school community or having a private counselling conversation, my aim is the same, that is, to help people leave feeling a little lighter, clearer and more supported than when we began.

My Approach

I believe meaningful support begins with feeling genuinely heard and understood.

My approach is calm, practical and person centred, with a focus on helping people slow things down, make sense of what they’re experiencing and identify what may help them move forward.

I draw on counselling training, practical wellbeing experience, psychology, neuroscience and evidence informed approaches to support greater clarity, emotional wellbeing and connection.

I don’t believe every difficult experience needs to be immediately fixed.

Sometimes progress begins with having a safe place to talk honestly, understand what is happening beneath the surface and take one manageable step forward.

My hope is that people leave our conversations feeling a little lighter, clearer and more supported than when they arrived.
