Supporting Young People
Supporting Young People
Young people can carry far more than adults sometimes realise.
School pressure, friendships, family changes, confidence, anxiety, grief, identity, emotional regulation and uncertainty about the future can all feel overwhelming, particularly when someone doesn’t yet have the words to explain what is happening.
Over several years working within Gold Coast school communities, much of my professional life has centred around supporting young people through honest, one on one conversations.
My approach is calm, practical and person centred.
I believe one of the most powerful forms of support is for a young person to know there is a trusted adult who genuinely listens, does not rush to judge or fix them, and continues showing up.
Experience Supporting Young People
My work within schools has included supporting students navigating:
Anxiety, stress and feeling overwhelmed
Friendship and relationship difficulties
Family changes
Grief and loss
School pressure and motivation
Confidence and self worth
Emotional regulation
Identity and growing independence
I also understand that supporting a young person often involves understanding the wider environment around them.
Where appropriate, I value working alongside parents, caregivers, school staff and wellbeing teams to help strengthen communication, connection and support.
The goal is not to tell a young person who they should become.
It is to help create enough safety, understanding and connection for them to better understand themselves and move forward in a way that feels manageable.
A limited number of online counselling and wellbeing sessions are available by arrangement.
